Matri has eye on Azzurri

Alessandro Matri says he was also considering his international career when he decided to leave Juventus for Milan.

The striker moved to San Siro in the summer after an €11m fee was agreed between the two Italian giants.

“Apart from wanting to return to Milan, I left Turin because I wanted to play more and try to win a place back in the Italy squad,” he told Forza Milan!

The 29-year-old has struggled to impress after re-signing for the club where he grew up in. He has yet to score for the club after eight appearances.

Matri was called up into the Italy squad for the first time in February 2011, but he has only won five caps since. He has scored one goal.

Great finish Matri!

Did well when you came on.
Hopefully that goal will give you some much needed confidence.
Big games against Lazio and Fiorentina coming up.
