Chelsea will be pissing themselves laughing if he plays against them, can you really see them being scared of him? Not Juventus standard if you look at who we have had over the years, yes he does have good movement and got an assist last night, he's a decent striker on his day but he is not good enough for a side like Juve, he should be playing for someone like Lazio IMO.
yeah right, he surely is not on the level of such top strikers like zalayeta, di vaio, amoruso, kovacevic, fonseca, esnaider and boksic ... yeah, we only had the best of the best play for us in champions league, right ?

we always had a few cack forvets playing for us...

Inb4 Balkans come to defend their boys.
I'm not sure if it even deserves defending, but what the hell....

Alen Boksic scored 33 goals in the season when Marseille won the Champions League in 1993. Top scorer of the team both in their league (23 goals) and the CL (6 goals, second only behind Romario who scored 7 goals), and by far the best player of a CL winning team.

And he was compared to freakin' Matri!

In Juve he was a sub to Del Piero-Vieri and he only scored a total of 7 goals that season. But even our topscorer Del Piero had only 15 and the second best scorer Vieri had 14. Our best scorer in serie A that year was DP with only 8 goals. Matri would have never been an option in a team that had Zidane playing behind Vieri and Del Piero.

Di Vaio also can't be compared to Matri. He was a much better and more dangerous striker. The other mentioned were either Matri level or worse.

    P.S: Ballon d'or in 1993:
    1. Baggio
    2. Bergkamp
    3. Cantona
    4. Boksic
    5. Laudrup
    6. Baresi
    7. Maldini

Now imagine this and how possible it is:
    1. Messi
    2. Ronaldo
    3. Iniesta
    4. Matri
    5. Pirlo
    6. Drogba
    7. Xavi

    :howler:

The mistake Matri made, wasn't that he decided to try go round the keeper, but the direction which he chose.
I agree, and the same was said by the ESPN guys.

You know why he did that?, because he had much more space to maneuver and score in that angle, than by taking to the right... but guess what? he totally forgot that they just had skip a defender seconds ago... and he didnt think about the possibility of the defender recovering and following up our advance. He lost focus and the defender was able to close the gap and block him.

He should learn from Pirlo, who has like a radar in his ass and is always aware who is getting close to him from his back...and memorizes the enemy players that are around him to know which direction he can take after he receives the ball.

So you actually think Matri decided to go around the keeper because it was adventurous? No way in hell. He did it because he thought it would be the easiest way to score. With 1 goal in 17 matches and with no confidence at all, you're desperate to score.
how can u base him with 1 goal in 17 matches? All of the end of last season, borriello and quags were picked over Matri and not only that but you can clearly see he isnt in form. Even though hes not the best striker and hes not the best finisher, a couple of seasons ago he delivered and preformed well, he even preformed well under Del Neri, because he was given a starting spot every game

I have no idea of which point you're trying to make. What does "How can u base him" mean? :)

    Matri makes goal promise

Alessandro Matri is confident that he will start scoring goals again on a regular basis for Juventus.

The 28-year-old is struggling to ripple the net given that he has scored just once in nine games across all competitions so far this season.

And he was again left goalless after being handed a start in the 4-0 win over Nordsjaelland on Wednesday evening.

“As I have already stated, there is no regret that the goal didn’t arrive,” he stated. “I hit the bar, I had other opportunities, but I’m not unhappy.

“In fact, I think that I gave 101 per cent. I didn’t think I was in great form, but the important thing was that we won.

    “A goal will follow – I promise!”

Matri could be given another opportunity against Pescara this weekend, although stories this morning suggested that Juve would start with Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella in attack.
Does anyone where you can bet on a Matri own goal for tomorrow?
