The problem with Matri is that he's totally dependent on other players. Yesterday Vucinic had a bad day so he had a bad day. Earlier in the season when Vucinic had good days, he had good days. He needs a more consistent player than Vucinic around him because Vucinic traditional bad days now bring down 2 players because Matri is useless without someone creating clear chances for him. Either that or we need to use 2 strikers or Quag instead of Matri. Yes he's similar to Trez but Trez always had better / more consistent players than Vucinic and Pepe creating for him and Trez was better than Matri anyway..

I am probably getting killed for this, but check these stats:

Trezeguet scored 20+ goals 3 times.
01-02 (24 from 112 shots)
05-06 (23/108)
07-08 (20/104)

Matri:
10-11 20/79.

Not bad, huh?

Well I can't say he's shit because he does have a good goal-scoring record, but other than his goals (even then, he misses too many easy chances), his play is horrible. Cack passing, turns more slowly than Snorlax, at times takes very long to release the ball from his feet, first touch like stinging nettle.

... But he's scoring goals, so I won't complain about him yet.

And I've grown bored of Federica.

Fair enough. He had a reputation for being technically gifted at Cagliari and i think he's been somewhat disappointing in that aspect. His first touch can be atrocious and he underhits and misses short passes he really should be making. the goals are here, hopefully the build up play will come in time.

Not good enough to lead the attack for the foreseeable future. Good asset for the bench.
I think he's good enough, but we need more creative players. Vucinic, Pepe, Marchisio and Vidal all had an off-day against Siena, and Matri barely got any service whatsoever. How would Trezeguet fare on a day like that? Not very good. And I'm no Trez-hater, he's one of my favourite players of all time. But he got excellent service, and Matri ain't getting half of the passes and crosses which he used to get.

Very telling stats there, Melo. Should shut a few of the haters up.
