this single striker experiment has got to stop, doesn't suit Mirko or Matri.

Luca Toni would be the best option if we want to play this way.

Oh and lol @ Osvaldo.

And disappears in lesser games? I don't like those players personally.

I'll defend him here. I don't think Prandelli even rates Osvaldo higher here, but Italy's place in that group is secured and they don't even need points now. He can test now, he doesn't need better players against Serbia. Italy pissed on everyone there, and they are simply replacing some players and resting them because there is no need to play them now.
I think its good that Matri didn't get the call up this time around. He has been playing ok but just hasn't been finishing. Matri should use this as a wakeup call and he should preform better if he wants to keep his spot on the NT

Matri has not played that badly. He almost scored numerous times against Parma and played well as a lone striker when we were down to 10 men. He's been unlucky not to score two or three more goals. He had one bad game away mostly due to how poorly the entire team played and he is unjustifiably paying for that. We should play him more he is easily our most efficient striker.

    am serious.

Mirko and Matri can't play as lone strikers.
Matri I've always felt played better with another forward on the field, I liked how he teamed up with Del Piero last season. Vucinic looked alright against Milan to be fair, made himself involved as much as someone can against Nesta/Silva.

If the team is playing that 4-1-4-1 again I'd have Toni on the bench, and if it isn't working well enough then send him on for the last 20 minutes.
