This. Only a few clubs were after him BEFORE the world cup. But you see, the PL is based on this kind of hype. They will buy players based solely on WC scouting..
What are you babbling on about? Chelsea, Manure, Newcastle and Arsenal were linked with him before.

Y'all are so fucken daft. The kid has been on European clubs radar for years. How do you guys think scouting works?

Dear lord..

Really? I've never heard of him before we were interested. I saw Arsenal were linked but not Chelski. Major clubs have advanced scout setups, but that's different to actually pursue and engage in negotiations.

This is so key to understand football fans.

Is all the hype justified. He has only played Saudis and Egypt so far.
Well I can say 25M is more than just fair from the buyer`s end as there are many less talented players who cost more...
Is he "better than Pjanic"?! - Hell no... not even close at the moment - He is a talented kid who needs to grow!
Is he going to be a superstar?! No one can answer that with a definite answer (unless you have a time machine) but he does possess quality that is obvious to see
Look at the way he thinks, look at his passing and crossing skills + his mentality on the field - He might not be WC at any of them but you see the talent is there
for 25M He is a very low risk and very high potential gain!

The point is, you not knowing the player doesn't mean professional clubs don't know the player. Also you not knowing the player doesn't say anything about the player.
I got that point. I replied to this by stating the difference between scouting and action. Let me clarify so everybody here get's it:

A. Scouting a player. (Every major club in Europe should know of Golovin prior to his world cup performances)
B. Entering negotiations for the player, talking to entourage and owner club. (Only Juve were actually interested prior to the World Cup, whereas Chelski waited for that WC hype)

I do think there is some form of world cup hype not just with this guy but in general. Look at James. He spiked right after. Yes he was scouted but would not have gone for that fee if he had a mediocre world cup.

I like his characteristics, we are in dire need of a LCM who can play football, carry the ball and help create something on offense.

Let's just hope Cam can offer something on defense - not sure of that, as he is so much Khedira lite.

I have a pretty hard time imagining Dybala, Higuain, Costa, Golovin and Pjanic all on the field at once. Too many technical fairies (not Higgy but he still doesn't defend.) not enough grinta.

No Italian coach would ever field that.

Maybe there will be an unexpected departure? :scared:

    Juventus raise Golovin offer
    By Football Italia staff

Juventus have reportedly raised their offer for Aleksandr Golovin, but CSKA Moscow are holding out for €25m.

The Bianconeri were linked with the Russian international before this summer’s World Cup, and he has been impressive in the first two matches at the tournament.

While a deal is in place with Golovin, and offer of €18m plus bonuses was rejected by his club.

According to Tuttosport, Juve are keen to seal a deal before Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona make their interest more concrete so have offered €20m plus bonuses and a percentage of any future sale.

CSKA are holding out for €25m, but that offer is close enough that the gap could be bridged.

However, the Russian side are waiting for the national team to be knocked out of the World Cup before selling their star man.
