He's in his first season and has played 21 matches for Vitoria. That's it. And 2 matches for the U20 national team.

He's 21 which is not even very young for a Wing Back.

And he's a wing back, which is literally the least impactful position in football and usually the cheapest. I think we're overspending a bit but I hope our scouts did their due diligence on this one.

How did we end up paying 13 mil for a player that was recently (19th Dec) evaluated at 1 mil by Transfermarkt?
I can top that.

Last year we paid 3.9 million for 6 months loan for a bench player from England second division club whose Transfermarkt value was 15 million.

We paid 5 mil for him and his transfermarket value is 12 mil. So we're good

Because he earns 500k so the book value remains tiny
That is irrelevant because it's his breakthrough season. If we paid 13 mil for him I expect his contract is at least 1 mil a year after tax.
But my question remains, how do you pay 13 mil for a player whose transfermarkt value is 1 mil. And at the same time we're willing to sell Vlahovic for 50 mil while his value is 60 mil. Please make it make sense.

Transfermarkt is a hobby site set up by some German estate agent.... yet the figc see it as a tool for valuing players lol

These stats are handpicked to make Alberto Costa look good. How about aerial duels won or shots blocked?
Also you're comparing Liga NOS with Serie A. So the comparison is largely irrelevant.

Transfermarkt is very accurate in their evaluation of players between 20 and 30 years old.

Is this not including uefa conference stats? He played against fiorentina in one of the matches.

but have you compared his transfermarkt value to his value in FM24? how much is he worth in FIFA?
