Alberto Aquilani will join Juventus on loan with the right to buy from Liverpool. “All that’s missing are the signatures,” said his agent.
The former Roma midfielder looks set to complete his return to Serie A this weekend after struggling to recover from injury during his Premier League experience.
“It is a loan with the right to buy and Juve will be covering all of his wages,” explained agent Franco Zavaglia to Sportitalia television.
“I have been in Liverpool since Thursday morning talking to their directors. On Saturday I will return to Italy.
“All that’s left to define now are the final details between the two clubs and Alberto’s signature.”
Although the figures have not yet been released, it’s reported the buy-out clause has already been set at €15m.
His current wages, which will be covered by Juve, are €3.4m per season.
The transfer was not even on the horizon earlier this week, but the Bianconeri seem to have completed this swoop under the radar.
“Everything was done very quickly. Roy Hodgson said Alberto needs to play and would not have found much space at Anfield, whereas Juventus will give him this possibility.”
The agent also commented on Roma boss Claudio Ranieri’s confession he had wanted Aquilani at Juventus when he was still in charge.
“The directors at the time did not know how to or did not want to complete the operation, but it’s well known Alberto has always been a favourite of Ranieri’s.”
