Lets be realistic here. We either renew him at 6 ish net or we let him go for free.

Then let him go. Even in form I am not convinced he should be a starter here in the future. Would he take a starting spot in any CL contenders? I doubt it, and too expensive for a rotational player.
He has been poor but to be fair, he has been playing as a LM/LWB/LW/Mezzela position all at once in a weird mismatch midfield setup consisting of B2Bs. Under a decent manager and in a decent team he will do well, only that I remain unconvinced he would be a starter for any top team. And we have a team consisting of only rotational players, so it's not a hard loss.

reality check?

btw i bet some english clubs will offer him more than juve
Maybe they’ll offer more indeed. Rabiot will simply say that the tax benefits applies to him and he already due to that a relatively cheap player is compared to others. Besides that we rarely see a player at his age lowering his salary. In my opinion it isn’t even a option we should consider, in fact we should know better.

Tax benefit applies for 5 years iirc. It's not like he will be cheap forever for us

I would keep the current Rabiot but we damn well know that as soon he puts the ink on the paper we will get the Rabiot of two years ago.
