Milan have today announced the capture of Italian international striker Christian Vieri on a two-year deal.

Football Italia reported last night that a move was on the horizon and the Rossoneri have confirmed the whispers on Tuesday.

Vieri, who had his contract at city rivals Inter terminated on Friday, is tied to the San Siro outfit until 30 June 2007.

Can you convince me why useless? One of the best strikers in the league is never useless.

Well he was transferfree so I got two words: why not?

Well I didn't know it was for free :D

But still useless. Unless Milan are only using him as bait I see no value for Vieri there.

He's a solid back-up in case of injury to the first choice strikers and the profits from selling jerseys etc with his name on it should outweigh his salary I would imagine.

Okay, I agree. But Vieri won't. Mainly with the back up part.

Plus, why waste Vieri as a back up. Yea, sure he's getting old, slow, rusted, but still.

Anyway. I just realised I don't really care.

He is more useful the Del Piero...
    Agree there :D

First he's useless and then it would be a waste to bench him? Make up your damn mind lad

The title says "A Vieri useless signing by Milan" not "Vieri is useless"

    :D

It's two different meanings dutchy :D

Milan doesn know if they will convince Parma and Chelsea to give them Crespo and Gilardino. Milan has almost lost the batle to land Crespo...
Probably Thomanson will go, and you can't rely on Inzagui becouse his constant injuries...

So, if you see at the current sure strikers that Milan have are: Vieri and Shevchenko

Personally, I thought Vieri was one of the most effective bench strikers in the league last season...almost qualifying him for my World "Super Sub" vote (which, if you can believe it, I bestowed upon Helder Postiga).

I think he's a shrewd acquisition for Milan. There are questions looming over Crespo remaining with the squad, and the guy was pretty rusty for the first half of last season as is. Pippo seems to keep too many doctors gainfully employed these days. And Sheva gets hurt on occasion, taking down a lot of Milan's offensive production with him.

Milan's signing of Vieri was very good for them.
He was on a free transfer so why shouldn't they??
IMO Juve should have done it before Milan ever had the oppertunity...

its a good deal for milan but not so good for vieri.I mean to have a striker of vieris calibre as backup which hes gonna be if they sign gila or even crespo is always gonna be a plus for any team but the question is would that do his world cup prospects any good.
