  14. Matri: So it's all just a prank??
[Then, is all a take by the ass??]

Notes

  1. "prendere per il culo" ~ "take by the ass", or the more polite "prendere in giro" ~ "take for a ride" means to put someone on, to pull someone's leg.
Theory: Reflexive pronouns

Reflexive actions are actions where the subject and the object are the same, so "I do something to myself", "You do something to yourself" etc. We have seen examples of this:

  • Mexes si nasconde ~ Mexes hides himself [Mexes himself hides]
  • Julio Cesar si è fatto male ~ Julio Cesar has hurt himself [Julio Cesar himself is done bad]
  • ci assegniamo la responsabilità ~ we assign the responsibility to ourselves [ourselves assign the responsibility]
  • ti sei messa la maglia ~ you have put the shirt on yourself [yourself have put the shirt]
Reflexive pronouns are words like: myself, yourself, ourselves etc.

  • Io mi metto la maglia della Juve. ~ I put the Juve shirt on myself. [I myself put the shirt of-the Juve.]
  • Tu ti metti la maglia della Juve. ~ You put the Juve shirt on yourself. [You yourself put the shirt of-the Juve.]
  • Lui/lei si mette la maglia della Juve. ~ He/she puts the Juve shirt on himself/herself. [He/she himself/herself puts the shirt of-the Juve.]
  • Noi ci mettiamo la maglia della Juve. ~ We put the Juve shirt on ourselves. [We ourselves put the shirt of-the Juve.]
  • Voi vi mettete la maglia della Juve. ~ You put the Juve shirt on yourselves. [You yourselves put the shirt of-the Juve.]
  • Loro si mettono la maglia della Juve. ~ They put the Juve shirt on themselves. [They themselves put the shirt of-the Juve.]
