Ronaldo papered over the cracks, our downfall had nothing to do with him. He always delivered for us. Vlahovic at 70M struggles with no support, Ronaldo at 100M does it all by himself.

It was definitely worse BUT he also had all circumstances against him. Many washed up players on long term deals, covid, dybala's injury record, Buffon leaving...

That's all I'm saying. Ofc glad he's gone.
How about adding an entire useless midfield on high salaries? Ramsey? Rabiot? Arthur? Giving renewal to Rugani? Hiring Pirlo? Kulusevski?

He needlessly sold Benatia and spent all of January of 2019 looking for another CB only for us to end up with a way past his best Martin Caceres (whilst giving Rugani a contract extension) was the moment I knew Paratici was useless and we’d struggle with him in charge of our recruitment.

The Suarez fiasco, the constant whining to refs in the tunnel, the phone conversations and texting whilst watching our games. The guy was a putz of the highest order.

Also the fact that he and Nedved ran Allegri off and they thought Maurizio Sarri, of all fucking people, would be an ideal coach for a club like Juventus.

You know a lot of these were done because of financial restraints (covid). And Kulu is still a talented guy, just the wrong timing for him.

Don't make me defend Tici here... But see the bigger picture that loomed over his undeniable failures

Rabiot and Ramsey were hired before COVID. Rugani renewal too. Dude was a train wreck who didn’t know how to build a team.

:agree: 'papered over the cracks' is a very apt description of CR7's tenure, well done to you

The overarching collapse occurred when Beppe sold Pogba, Vidal, gifted Tevez and then spent 94mil for Piguain and made Khedira the heart of CM

JJ around 2015-16 was a soldier getting torn into pieces by a grenade, already dead but conscious and doesn't know it yet.

From then on it was just painful breathing, spitting of blood and medics Tici, Bene and Bini injecting shit instead of morphine

But the patient was already dead

Tici has all the tools to repair this. Yet in 19/20 mercato he gambles on free agents in midfield (Rabiot who has not played for a season and Ramsey) and spends more than 130m on the defenders (de Ligt 85m, Demiral 20m, Romero 31.5m) and 59m on fullbacks (Danilo 37m and Pellegrini 22m, though this were his plusvalenzas masterclasses). For me this mercato completely destroyed Juve.

We need only to look at his work at Inter to see that Marotta would've for sure at the very least kept us competitive while we rebuild.

Exactly. The collapse of our midfield and signing of a fat Higuain was the beginning of the end for me.

We nearly won the treble with a Pjanic/Khedira midfield and Higuain upfront. It’s ridiculous to think our decline started then.

It truly began with the Ronaldo signing and sacking of Marotta and everything that came afterwards.

It began with Higuain that we started spending for names more than fit. We didn't need Higuain, we had Mario and Dybala already. We needed to replace Pogba, we needed to reinforce the midfield and our bench further, instead we spent it all on a lazy choker with 0 resale value. He was a finished player within 2 years of signing.

With Ronaldo at least if he stayed still could play at a high level. Higuain was done.

The Higuain signing butchered our nearest competition and kept us comfortably dominant domestically. Ridiculous to think anything otherwise. On that level the signing was a masterstroke. We also needed an out and out goal scorer so you couldn’t say the signing wasn’t filling a void.

Yep. We took Napoli’s best player and the most dangerous striker in Serie A…also took our other closest competitor (lol) best midfielder in Pjanic. Two master-strokes.

Napoli literally had more goals and more points the next season without replacing Higuain.

Higuain was good for us the first year in Serie A and against Monaco. Second year against Tottenham and first part of Serie A. Rest of it was simply abysmal for the money we paid and he was a retired player by the end of his 2nd year. One of the worst signings ever made by this club

The Fat Argentine was solid for 18 months, and then his inability to control his hunger urges and pussyfag mentality derailed his career. From a financial viewpoint, the signing was a dud. 90 million for a guy who played well for 18 months is atrocious.

But they were finished psychologically. Having seen themselves come second and then lose their star centre forward, made them accept they would always be a beta club.
Higuain fell off a cliff after we brought Ronaldo because he was made to feel like an afterthought in a similar vein to how he was pushed aside to Benzema at Real Madrid. He was always a little fragile mentally, but it was clear he never recovered from that second setback.

It’s always easy to say with hindsight that it ended up being a waste of money, but at the time it took place, it was definitely a very clever strategy in my opinion.

But they didn't, they literally had a better season without him

He was awful the second part of second season in Serie A. He scored like 2 goals in 14 games or something

And it is not hindsight, it was very obvious before we signed him that he was not worth that money
