    Haha, I knew about Bellevue, WA earlier than most. I even bought the Queensryche self-titled EP on cassette when it was the only thing they had out. :D First heard them on one of the best high school radio stations in America, WARG in Summit, IL.

    It's a common phenomenon, really. I think about the early days of punk rock. People just did their thing. Then it later got codified with colored mohawk haircuts, Doc Martens boots, chains, leather jackets... Uniforms. It's funny to hear the stories of those days when some punk bands were like...

    Like rap, so much of metal these days is about standardized images instead of a focus on the actual music.

    Would you call Alice Cooper "metal", though? Other than his (their) glam roots, I've always put him more in the hard rock category in with the likes of groups like Queen, UFO, Y&T, etc.

    Ok, here's a stump-the-metalheads take... Here's something that even our own Sergio would have to approve of. Spain's Basque country produced an unknown-to-English-speakers band called Ángeles del Infierno. 25 years ago, and you'd be hard-pressed to say these guys were some joke Latino band...
