He should have gone post that CL campaign. But I understand why that didn't happen. The off-field issues were a lot more of an issue last season than the on field ones. Fixing the board and bringing stability to operations while having someone not making demands of spending was probably the best...

The more I think about it, the more I appreciate the fact that we played safe that game. A loss then would probably have crushed this team mentally. Now we look like a completely different team on most match days and you can see the improvement in attitude and effort on the pitch. I keep waiting...

You can't be successful all the time. A fall happens eventually, especially in sports. What matters is that the club rises up again and thankfully we do look like we are inching our way up after hitting bottom.

The bolded part I agree. But it's not like he's taking this team by the scruff of the neck and pushing it forward. He hasn't done or shown anything extra ordinary in these very ordinary times. Bremer for example has carried a defense of a brick-layer, a full back and a whatever Rugani is.

Why Chiesa? Based on talent alone? Because he hasn’t really shown anything to suggest he’s leadership quality so far. Woj is a curious case. I think in terms of appearances he’s a candidate who could have worn the arm band, but he hasn’t yet. I think he does not want to wear it maybe :boh:
