Was mucking about with the newest Taylormade M1 3-wood last week. Got the previous version of it, but tempted to upgrade.

Handicap has gone up to 5 (4.5) so target in last three competitions of the season is to get that back down. Saved my better stuff for matchplay. Won the Club Championship in August, smashing the defending champion 4&3 in the final. So my name is now up on the honours board for ever more...

New wedge: Must be my fifth or sixth Mizuno wedge like this. Same 58 loft and 10 bounce as ever.

I feel for @ZoSo. That's six months he's been unable to get on with his life because he's been awaiting my insightful response. His whole life has probably crumbled in that time.

I struggle if I'm not playing at least once a week and really need two games a week to feel sharp. Can usually work it round with the long game, but you've no chance with the short game if you aren't playing heaps. And I'm more reliant on my short game than most people.

Parador Old, Santana, Calanova. Never heard of any of them. Assume they are all run-of-the-mill tourist courses rather than anything terribly interesting or difficult. - - - Updated - - - Played a typically illogical round of golf last weekend. Classic straight out, straight in links...

You have to get to a pretty good standard for the ball to make a difference to your game - beyond it just feeling/sounding nice off the putter. I notice the difference in balls in how much they spin/check on approach shots. I won't detect that one ball flied two yards further than another on a...

Nice. Similar shape to my Odyssey putter. Got a new grip on my putter the other week and it feels great (previous grip was about 12 years old a well worn down). Usually use Pro V1 balls. Srixon AD333 are my cheap alternative. Bought some Vice Pro balls last year to test them out...

Any thoughts on proposed rule changes (or do you guys not tend to play strict rules?) http://www.golf-monthly.co.uk/news/notice-board/proposed-changes-rules-golf-2019-125704 No issue with most of them. Removal of penalties for accidental stuff is good. Need to find out more about some of the...

Depends. It may be that your swing is exactly as it should be and it's your alignment before you start the swing that's the problem. Or it may be you have too strong a grip (i.e. your left hand is too much on top of the club). Or it could be your swing path. Or it could be a combination of...

Hooking shots rather than them just going straight left? Have to consider your swing path as as you must be coming in to out in your swing.

Dunno. Far enough. Most folk I play with (including good players) can't hit their driver past my 3-wood.

What sort of contact are you getting with the irons? Is the loss of distance due to hitting ground before ball, hitting shots thin or just generally failing to hit the ball with the sweet-spot?

Looks smart. I've been toying with getting something like that myself. Haven't used a driver in about ten years and think it'd be hard to get used to the huge head behind the ball, so tempted to experiment with a mini. Ping are the main exception. They only bring out new gear when they...

Can be either, I guess. When I had it done I had already decided I liked the set of Ping irons and it was just a case of tinkering with the spec. But they go through the shaft flex, the length of the club, the lie angle of the club, the thickness of the grip, etc.. Places here tend to do the...

Yeah, probably. When you jump ten years worth of tech you really feel it. But don't get long irons if you can't use them. Just get a set that's 5-iron to wedge (or something like that) and use hybrids or lofted woods instead of 3-, 4-iron. If it's the standard SW that goes with the set...

Bunker play's mostly about confidence because once you learn that you need to hit pretty hard it becomes quite easy. But getting to the point of being confident enough to hit hard (and not think you'll accidently hit a 15 yard shot 80 yards) is tough. Open club face, swing hard, hit the sand...
