Under certain circumstances yes. Not always though. And with Office2003 out now, who knows what we have in store for a new and "improved" doc format in the future, proprietary xml or whatever they're plotting. In the long run you just can't bet on OpenOffice handling whatever Ms comes up with...

Tell him to save it as a rich text document (rtf). At least if you want to edit it, otherwise html is fine too.

Like Don said, not all sites work perfectly with Mozilla cause the webmasters can't be bothered to test with anything but IE. Datasport.it is one such sorry example. But it's rarely a problem. As regards other files, you ask people to give them to you in a format you can open them.

Hydde, what do you mean by "problems using mozilla"? Don, of course there are. Winamp is one, has built in ogg support even.
