Just to play the devil's advocate. Creating something that is too deadly and too obvious, which spins out of control is not something anyone would do though. Releasing a controlled, not so lethal one can cause a lot of havoc, and it has, if we don't count bodies but overall impact.

Religion is natural and an essential phenomenon fam, hence it will always be around. People will always associate themselves with a cult/group/ideology. Football is also a relgiion, for example.
