Ya, that would work with a dictator. What is happening to him right now is much better than if he were perceived to be an enemy of Erdogan, much much better.

[WC] World Cup 2018 - General Talk Thread

He's not a victim of racial abuse in this case at all as far as I can tell. I think we've already established that. His performances were no worse than his teammates, the whole team played poorly(defense even worse than the offensive players for sure). But back to the original topic. Again, the...

[WC] World Cup 2018 - General Talk Thread

This is my take on Ozil's case. First of all, I think he's been treated unfairly but I don't think it has anything at all to do with racism. The rage against Ozil from Germans seems pretty universal, and while there are racists everywhere I really don't think you can label Germans as a...

The ball still traveled a long distance, if matuidi doesnt deflect it, imo it has to be a penalty. However this is the problem with handball penalties, for the most part they are interpretation and estimation, the rules are not clear cut.

Ya I might not be the most objective either since I've always supported the French NT :P I might need to see it again, when I saw it(though with the emotion of the moment I wasn't focusing all that much) I thought Matuidi lowered his head and didn't touch it. Obviously if Matuidi deflected...

[WC] World Cup 2018 - General Talk Thread

I think the penalty was a correct call to be honest. The ball traveled a long distance, and Persic's hands were not in a natural position, so for me , it was a penalty. France grinded their way to this WC. This makes up for 2006 though, when France played some really beautiful football and...

[WC] World Cup 2018 - General Talk Thread

You are not wrong. If it were up to me France would play more like Belgium, i derive more pleasure from winning with an offensive and attractive style of play than the way france wins games. But supporting a team in football usually is an emotional non rational impulse than a logical calculated...

As an Arsenal fan? I expect France to win, but to be fair i think this Croatia side is without doubt a better and more impressive team than Portugal 2016. Its a one off game, and anything can happen.

@Alen, how nervous are you man? :D Whatever happens today, you guys can be really proud of your NT, a real fighting spirit and nerves of steel in addition to the quality this generation always had. Oh and @Seven, lay off the French NT hate

Ya I am more or less done with work by lunch break too, but in my case my office is a glass office, my team can see if I'm streaming a football game or something. I end up missing the first game most of the time, unless its a good game like Portugal and Morocco yesterday, I just go home :P

What do their climates and politics have anything to do with it ? :P If it makes you feel any better, as someone who watches and knows this Saudi team well i can tell you they will probably lose. They have some quick and skilfull players upfront in Al Mwalid, Al Shehri and Al Dawsari, but they...

Maybe because you don't support Germany :D But seriously, I support France, I hated the outcome of the final, and I hate Materazzi to this day, but it was a great world cup.
