I totally agree. If I can't sleep in the middle of the night I read for a bit but I do it on chair right outside of the bathroom with the door shut just enough that only a little bit of light can come through. When I get drowsy I go back to be, works like a charm.
I had a similar issue until about a year ago that I would medicate with things like Benedryl and Tylenol PM. Then I started to exercise and started to wind down my day before I was getting tired. So if you know you can fall asleep at 11pm, then start winding down around 9pm or 10pm. Take a...
I don't go in trying for lucidity. Usually I've woken up before the dream accomplished whatever goal it had and I go back in and get it done by focusing on what I was doing and who I was with. I haven't been able to completely control a dream, but I've been aware I'm dreaming and that I need...
Focus on something singular as you're getting ready for bed. You need to be relaxed, I usually drink some really strong tea that makes me sleepy. Then hope for the best. The hardest part is recognizing you're in a dream.
I can never get them to be that concise. Mostly I'm in charge of the things I do, but the location changes constantly. Usually pisses me off.

Just be thankful they don't shit on your chest and jack in your face.
I usually just concentrate on the person or event really hard, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I think it helps that I'm really good at falling asleep.

I do that too when I feel something is going to shit. :D
Yeah. That's the idea. To an extent.
For an example, I had a dream the other night that was really fun and I woke up about 3am and was able to jump back in it. Woke up again around 5am and got back into it again.

It is. Or is it?
When I get them I wake up screaming and have no idea why. They're rare in adults. I had one once when Burke and I were camping. Freaked him the fuck out.
The physical interaction in my dreams occurs more frequently.
One thing I've come close to mastering is "dream chasing".
They say 7-8 hours is this best.

Cowboy up!

I get that sometimes too. Though mine is linked to dreams. One time I dreamed a tree was going to fall on me so I did a roll off my...
That's silly weirdo. Just get up.

Do you wake up ready to say, "I think I'll make this a snappy new day"? No? Then that's your problem.
It varies for me. Usually I'm more tired coming out of my 6-8 hour coma, but there are times when I wake up feeling tip top. Also, sometimes I'm exhausted when I go to bed. Like last night, I laid down and POW it was 8:30 in the morning.
