But you can't play any system with our fullbacks, that's the problem. They're the worst athletically in Serie A. Narrow or wide doesn't matter, eventually they have to run and cover, and they just can't do those things. We're better off playing a faster game with guys like DC, Traore, Pepe...

It's obviously because if our fullbacks are isolated we have no chance. It's easier to recover outwards than inwards so Del Neri figures we will concede the balls to the wings instead of the dangerous balls towards our goal.

I would actually prefer: -Barzagli - Bonucci - Chiellini ------------------------------Pepe -------------Melo -----Aquilani-----Marchisio Krasic---------------Martinez -----------Matri Melo or Marchisio to cover Pepe. In Marchisio's case, he's forced to do that anyway lol.

Right now Grygera gives up 1 goal per game by himself (calculated). All this while not crossing half. It cannot get worse. It just can't. We have nothing to lose.

Pepe at fullback is a no-brainer.
