From what Im reading on the net, a few Napoli "scarfers" got attacked before and after the game. Before the game about 200 Napoli Ultras smashed up a pub. And during/after the game groups of Napoli were charging coppers and local Liverpool hoodlums, looking for a fight.

This. As much as Italian team suck in the UEFA Cup/Europa League (and theres no denying it), they still have a better record in the UCL compared to the German (and definitely French) teams over the past 10 years.
