  1. The Official Olof Mellberg Thread

(The Villa fan here) I've seen a couple of Juve's game this season (Pre-season friendlies, Serie A and in Europe) and Olly looks like he's been playing okay, but like I said, I've not seen enough to know just how wel he's being playing. So how has Mellberg been playing for Juve so far overall...

You're welcome. I'm interested to see how he adjusts to life in Serie A, as you tend to defend very differently over there. I don't think it helped that at the Euro's he didn't have a good CB partner, even Cannavaro can look bad next to a real bad CB. And let's face it, Petter Hanssen is hardy...

(It's me, the Villa fan again!) I hope you liked what you saw off Mellberg at the Euro's. I don't think he was at his best personally, hardly breath-taking performances, but he did all he was asked to do against Greece, had a good game against Spain and against Russia he was nothing special...

I understand that bigger clubs want him, he's done very well for us. But I hope he doesn't leave, he's our captain and a very important player to us. He's only 27 and already played nearly 400 games for us, a legend in the making. I don't like the way Liverpool have gone about trying to buy him...

Oh, I didn't realise you'd been linked with him. He's still a good keeper. Carson is in front of him because Sorenesn got injured in pre-season, so we bought Carson in on loan. Sorensen said something that annoyed our manager so he was dropped for the season. He's better than Carson.

Thankyou :) I shall stick around, I've always enjoyed Serie A football - though I must admit I do follow Milan as my Italian team - but as I like the league in general I watch as much as possible and have an interest in the top teams - which includes Juve of course! Sorensen. Shame he's...

I rate him very highly, both as a person and a player. He is fairly quick for somebody who is really a CB, rarely gets troubled by pacey strikers. He's good in the air and times his tackles well. One thing that I think will help him in Serie A is that he's very composed on the ball, not likely...

I don't have any pictures of my own of any of the fans dressed up, but there's some on the internet. Sorry, I'm not sure how to put pictures on. There's a link though, I think..

A Villa fan here.. It's a sad day for us to see Mellberg play his last game at Villa Park, he's been a solid defender in his time with us. He's been forced to play at RB the majority of this season, mainly because we don't have a recognised RB in our squad, but he's done a very good job...
