Hello again all, I hope all's well in the world of Juve. My John Charles story 'The Gigante' is now at July/August 1957, the pre-season stage of his debut for Juventus. Please can anyone help with info and details on Piazza San Carlo, the club's headquarters (?) of the era, and also of their...

In the late 1980s there was a benefit game held for John (and Bobby Collins) at Elland Road, Leeds - and a few Juventus players played in the friendly match. Michel Platini was one and he was still fantastic. I remember Scirea too, who looked a supreme defender. Ian Rush played too...

Hi all. Can anyone help with information about the stadium when JC was playing for Juventus, please? Info on the web is pretty limited, even though it looked a fantastic place to play. I know it was for a while 'dedicated' to Mussolini but I'm more interested in the facilities there. Did it...

I know JC was compared with Hansen quite a lot, but John was considered not only the best centre-forward around but also the best centre-half too. I never saw him play, I was born in 1965, but I believe all the plaudits about how good he was :)

Thanks very much, Tanu, that is brilliant of you to offer. I'll pm you but the gist is - anything your dad remembers about John's first season at Juventus (he arrived May 1957 but didn't play until the new season. Anything your dad remembers would be a big help - for instance, when John...

I know it's a slim chance but what the heck - are there any Juventuz members who were around in 1957 and remember watching Juventus with Charles, Sivori, Colombo and of course Boniperti? A difficulty with writing a book about those years is that I wasn't there, and there isn't much football TV...

Thanks Maddy and Dule 90, much appreciated. I'm a gentle giant (well, not really, I'm 6 foot tall :) ) but I'm only interested in good vibes and healthy discussion. I didn't mention, I travelled across to Bergamo to meet Umberto Colombo. What a wonderful fellow!
