So Beck, Michel Bastos, Fernando, Sorenson, maybe Heinze. Nice and international. Lends an air of gravitas.

Don't remind me, I saw that and quickly scrolled down until it was off my screen. I don't want to hear more about this until the ink is dry.

    Capitano Giorgio Chiellini

I imagine this was posted before but I haven't the strength to go back through the entire thread, and in any event, those who missed it might find it interesting. Wish he'd just say he's bianconero for life though and make me happy. Interview is from before WC. Whole art/interview here...

juve, serie a, italian football. it's all blurring together for me

Well for the record popularity isn't what I'm after, though there is a big hazy area since shirts and tv shares are a function of popularity. It's fine if we're hated, as long as we're relevant. Feared would be best of all. That's what we were, back in the 90s and the early part of the aughts. I...

I remember reading stuff like this and wishing I could see more of them. Guys like Marrone especially. Reading about the young guys have been some of the bright spots for me in recent years. http://juventus.theoffside.com/team-news/time-to-spring-forward-the-youth-players-development.html...

Please let's not lose Melo. I agree with what you guys are saying about Pepe but I wish you'd use kinder language. Guy worked hard for us. It's not his fault he doesn't have the talent. I wish him the best wherever he lands. (But please do go.) That made me spit OJ on my kb. That made me...

If he went to United I'd get a Juve Marchisio. Let em know where he's from. I still have to get a Chiellini first though. I haven't bought a shirt since Nedved. Who here has the most shirts? And how many? I have three but one of them is Baggio.

I don't see Krasic as a guy that plays defense. Maybe it's just fatigue this season. But if you assume for the sake of argument Krasic does not play defense, how does that impact us playing a 4-3-3? Especially with a new RB. Not that this gets solved with a 4-4-2.

Lol don't rip me too hard, it's love for Buffon that made me toss that in. A while back I heard some English guy say on tv that Buffon is the most overrated GK in the world today, and recently I've been hearing about Buffon moving to what, Roma? I'd rather he contend for hardware at United and...

I might be ok with Marchisio moving to United just to see an Italian get the exposure. Especially a Juve youth guy. Doesn't sound like we could find a great role for him here anyway. Give them Buffon too if they can't get Neuer, European hardware would really help his legacy.

    Gianluigi Buffon

If he left I would want it to be for a club that has a shot at winning UCL, not just playing in it, to shore up his legacy. As much as I love him under those circumstances I'd wish him the best and root for him.

I've always been afraid of the 4-3-3 because over the course of a lifetime I've gotten this sense that it leads to defensive collapses. Is that a totally false impression? Is it structurally no weaker defensively than a 4-4-2?

I'm just not sure winning is enough, that's the problem. There were factors totally beyond Juve's or Serie A's control. Abramovitch and then the City guy. Beckham, a singular marketing force like none other I've ever seen in football, given additional leverage by "Bend it Like Beckham." The...

Yeah exactly. Is that a cycle though, where teams can jump into the places currently occupied by the likes of United? Juventus has the worldwide following it does because of a specific period of Italian immigration patterns just when Juve was tops. And that has lasted for a century. Folks here...

juve, serie a, italian football. it's all blurring together for me

I'm still thinking through why I feel the way I do. For me the concerns are not rational, I'm not thinking about revenue streams and fair-play rules. I imagine we would be pretty good there anyway, with our low debt (afaik... in 2010 our debt load was 3% relative to value, vs 50% for some clubs)...

It's weird I read that and "Francescoli" popped into my head. There are all these names from the early-mid 90s that will stick with me forever I think, while I'm forgetting guys who played just a few years ago.

I am having a weird experience with this actually. I don't think I was a true Juve fan until she fell. I inherited this club from Enzo, but over the past few years I'm getting more emotional and passionate about Juve than I ever was -- like I mentioned, I just ordered Berlitz Italian. And that's...

Childhood originally in midwest (Kansas), then growing up on east coast (CT and NYC) and now in California, so I have good geographic coverage. Could they have? I remember the 2003 final. I loved the final, superb defense. But everyone else, that's the reason Italian football stinks and ruins...
