Juve and not Roma for Buffon

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]Gigi Buffon’s agent has once again rubbished talk of a move to Roma. “He is a Juventus player and he intends to remain a Juventus player.”

The goalkeeper has been linked with the American revolution in the capital, but Silvano Martina is getting bored with the rumours.

“I really don’t know how certain things can be said,” the representative told romagiallorossa.it. “I will once again maintain that no negotiation to take Buffon to Roma exists.

“I have also never spoken to any Roma official regarding such a possibility.”

The rumours of a switch from Turin’s Stadio Olimpico to the Olimpico in Rome seem to have been fuelled by Martina’s relationship with Walter Sabatini.

The latter is expected to be appointed as Roma’s new sporting director, making him a key figure in their transfer plans.

“Everyone knows that Sabatini and I are great friends and we dine with each other regularly,” continued the representative.

“That doesn’t mean that we talk about Buffon going to Roma. No one has contacted me to talk about the best goalkeeper in the world.

“I’ve also read reports that I have held talks with [Roma official Gianpaolo] Montali, but I have never met him.

“Buffon is a Juventus player and he intends to remain a Juventus player.”

Martina also dismissed theories that Juventus were looking to cash in on the net-minder during the summer.

“We have not received any indication from Juventus about an eventual sale,” he added.

“If Buffon is fit then he remains the best goalkeeper in the world,” added the 1982 World Cup winner.

“To have a goalkeeper of that calibre is a blessing for any side and Juve would do well to keep him.”

Zoff.

If he left I would want it to be for a club that has a shot at winning UCL, not just playing in it, to shore up his legacy. As much as I love him under those circumstances I'd wish him the best and root for him.
