I think he played McKennie in a two with Rabiot when he brought him on against Porto (not sure if you’re counting sub appearances/cup games).
Playing him as this odd ‘hybrid’ wide midfielder clearly isn’t doing him any favours in my opinion as it feels like a square peg though in my opinion.
Whilst we’re fed up with seeing some of these underperformers consistently, I can only hope mr thesis changes to 3 central midfielders to reduce the chances of us looking like a sloppy uncoordinated bagel FC.
Does the thesis have a plan B?
Every team is preparing by covering the flanks because they realise Pirlo leaves the wide players out there to try and create 1v1s as his only game plan.
Or does the thesis not work if Chiellini, Alex Sandro and Bentancur are unable to play anything other than...
I remember being criticised on here for posting about 3-4 games in, that the scale of how bad our season would be was dependent on how long Pirlo stayed in role and that he wouldn’t survive a season.
It still stands and unless the opposite of the triad are prepared to witness how bad this season...
Don’t usually put money on Juventus games to avoid bias clouding my judgment, but think I’ve made a safe call on the 1-1.
Pirlo to continue playing two inverted wingers whilst Torino put men behind the ball and watch us pass side to side until Cuadrado has space to put a cross in.
I often think that about sides playing against us and then found on introspection that De Ligt, Chiellini, Bonucci, Chiesa, Morata, Dybala, Ronaldo are all just as bad with the screaming and rolling around.
Numerous offsides, misplaced passes, huge gap between the front line and the back line, multiple touches in between the ball being passed, lazy attitude, erratic pressing. What does the fucking coach actually work on?
Whatever results it takes from here to the end of the season to dispatch of the guy on our touch line and bring in an actual football coach is considered a success
A major overhaul this summer would hurt the team with the lack of stability and consistency we’ve had over the past two summers.
The squad has been bare at times this year so flogging bench players and not replacing wouldn’t be smart.
Cash in where possible and target quality in the glaring...
I wasn’t - I’m guessing that’s also down to Bayern having better options than him not being fit.
I believe we always questioned the fact that he was always injured come crucial champions league games and it’s now been two years in a row we’ve walked into CL knock out games with a team out of...
The Ronaldo or Dybala conversation is a moot point. There will be no takers for Ronaldo and there could be a market for Dybala meaning if one has to be moved on it will be Dybala.
It’s not about last night. It’s about the build up to last night where 7+ months of football hasn’t created any consistent patterns of play or cohesion. What he wants to do doesn’t seem to be working with the players he has (I know consistent injuries/absences haven’t helped). His failure is in...
