My guess is that they had another talk about renewing his contract today and there was no prospect of an agreement. Rather than leave that dragging on over the whole season, both parties will have decided it's better to call it quits now and go their separate ways.

I'm on board with that so long as Juve also appoint Scolari's assistant who has a better moustache than Scolari.

Too soon to attach blame to anyone just now. Remember how furious everyone was the previous board when Deschamps quit? He's since admitted that it was a mistake on his part and that he should have stayed.
