At the time mine were for spiritual reasons. I had decided to do a more extreme version of our fasting (which is just to stay away from meat) by combining it with the Islam way of fasting which was not to eat all day. I allowed myself water though. I agree with you though, charity is always...

Nah I was just joking. I am not even Muslim. Once though I did an Ramadan-like fast. That was just torture. :D Oh and when I broke fast on evenings I restricted myself to only vegetarian meals on top of that.
