I don't like this 3-man mid with Pirlo at anchor OR Montolivo. Italy 06 was won with a 4-4-1-1/4-2-3-1. Milan had Gattuso next to him. Same with Inter 10. Man U always have 2 holding mids. Bayern aswell. It's extravagant and only Barcelona get away with it.

I'm not doubting his quality. But maybe sitting deeper, he would intercept more balls to launch counters. Pressing high can become a waste if they can pass. Anyway, it's just a preference.

I'd still like to see him play more defensively like Davids. He can contribute in attack but i'm not sure that contribution is elite enough.

BIt of a lesson in Karma. Marchisio, Elia, Vucinic, Giac play the team game and get results. Certain others don't.
