Juve favourites to free Willy
Wednesday 9 November, 2005
Juventus have emerged as the front runners to sign Bayern Munich defender Willy Sagnol.

Sagnol, who is also being pursued by Inter, will be a free agent in the summer and it seems that his head has been turned towards Turin by France teammate Lilian Thuram.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed five fruitful years at Bayern, but is thought to be ready for a new challenge once he has represented his nation at the World Cup in Germany this summer.

Juventus, who poached Robert Kovac for nothing from the same Bundesliga club in June, are thought to have already offered the right-back a four-year deal worth £1.35m a term.

Sagnol would be an ideal replacement for Jonathan Zebina whose Delle Alpi days appear to be numbered after requesting a pay rise.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I appreciate what he brought us in the matches he played last season, and while I don't want to see Zambro having to play RB so often, I certainly would endorse his sale.

IMO, Juve has long had a successful connection with French players. Must be all the cheese and wine in Piemonte. ;)

Kind of like how Milan has become a Brazilian hangout and Inter one for Argentinians.

France has an established academy.
They produce really good young talents every year.
They take advantage of the large african / imigrant presence and by taking advantage of their natural athletic talents they mould them into good players.
These players come up through the french ranks, and when scouted usually move to bigger clubs in europe for stupid money.
So with the French players you get good athletic skills with great technical skills, just like players from brasil, but guess what? you dont have EU problems with French players.

Big teams usually have scouts living in france.
Winning a world cup followed by a euro cup didnt hurt them either.
Good Business.

Zebina just went to the cheaper academy thats all :)

Are you Racist or something like that. Where do you see the good news.

:frown:

Good convalesce Zebi.
haha, no man:) of course I'm not racist. I just think it's a risk to play him, so if Capello isn't able to chose him I find it great news
