Zebina out with appendicitis
Tuesday 1 November, 2005
Jonathan Zebina was rushed to hospital on Sunday night after suffering an attack of appendicitis.
The Juventus defender, who was admitted to Fornaca Medical Centre in the early hours of Monday morning, had been out of the side with a thigh injury but now faces an even longer stretch on the sidelines after learning that he must undergo an operation.
The club’s consultant surgeon Doctor Pier Agostino Caslango confirmed a case of acute appendicitis and will operate on the Frenchman himself this Wednesday.
The 27-year-old will remain in hospital to recuperate until the end of the week and will be unable to return to training for at least another two weeks.
Meanwhile, Siena must make do without the services of veteran defender Francesco Colonnese for up to six weeks.
The 34-year-old injured both his knee and ankle in the first half of his side’s 1-0 win over Treviso on Sunday and was substituted after just 2 minutes.
Tests have shown that the former Inter and Lazio man damaged medial ligaments and will be out of action for nearly two months
