In front of a 35.000 attendance, Juventus plays the first friendly match in Tokyo against Yokohama F-Marinos, J League’s defending champion. Capello’s squad wins 1-0 thanks to a goal scored by del Piero on 42’ in the first half. Early in the match Trezeguet nearly misses the target in two occasions, served by Nedved first, then by Del Piero.

The captain gets an early interception over a Kapo’s assist, afterward Nedved leads an action giving ball to Trezeguet whose shot is saved. The opponents alarm Chimenti first with Kaway, later with Kubo. The winning goal comes on 42’: cross by Pessotto right in the middle with Kapo and Kawai contending, ball towards Del Piero that with a great left legged shot reaches goal (1-0). After restart Capello sends in Parisi for Zanchi, then Aronica replacing Zebina. The Bianconeri create danger with Nedved and Trezeguet, while Chimenti saves properly on Nasu, who in a subsequent chance misses target from favourable position.

Three minutes from full time space for brazilian Garbini Pereira who takes over Del Piero, celebrated by Japanese fans as their idol with great applause. The captain, awarded as best match’s player, comments as follows: ‘I’m happy for the goal, but most of all for the hearty reception. Today’s it was a real game, including hard fight now and then. This is how football’s supposed to be, since no one wants to loose, but then in the end it all comes to a hug.

We dont have enough players and besides everybody does this, like Milan last year. It doesnt mean anything.
Yes, I'm aware of that! It was just funny and unexpected coming across their names, that's all.

Michel Garbini is Brazilian, he's 24, he has a terrific left foot, accurate passing and cunning set-pieces (this season, he scored the winner from a free-kick against Parma after 95 minutes of play). But that's about it really.

Mohamed Tchité, a young hybrid version of Emile Mpenza and Wamberto, is good for nothing.
