I agree, I get the want for homegrown management but I think both sides would have benefited from managers with experience against European sides in high pressure situations
:agree:

I don’t want to say that teams let both our sides control the pace and tempo of our matches and let us have majority of possession. I think it was probably a combination of our athleticism and tactics along with euro sides being content to sit back a bit and counter if we were going to expose our back lines like that. But there really has to be a better balance going forward for both teams. It’s really naive to only have that guns blazing tactic against superior sides.

People like to praise bravery when clearly an inferior team tries to impose its game and go all out to attack. But how many times does it work in reality? Its easier to set up defensive block and hit those teams on counters. If Canada stayed back and rellied more on counter attacks, Croatia would have far more difficult time.
I don't think either the US or Canada can sit back and defend. That would be suicidal. Their game plan depends on being physically fit and going for it. Defend by attacking. They don't know what to do when a better team sits back and hits them on a counter.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but sitting back and inviting pressure when you have a shaky defense can very easily be suicide as well.
