When your best players either aren't in the world cup or don't get to play that is quite expected.

Dybala has Messi to compete with
Pjanic not in the WC
Chiellini not in the WC
Alex Sandro not selected, has Marcelo to compete with
Higuain is out of form and has pretty much always been below his standards for Argentina
Douglas Costa didn't get to feature yet either

I'd say we have some pretty great players. The problem is their NT's have even greater players in their positions.
People somehow get it stuck in their heads that the World Cup is the proving ground where the best players always shine brightest. That’s the lies the advertisers tell. Instead we get golden boot winners like James Rodriguez and Diego Forlan.

When Poborsky and Berger "out-shined" Nedved in the EURO's in 96, so United and 'Pool went for them and overlooked Nedved ::lol3::

Just shows how short-minded some clubs are. You could argue Real Madrid pulled such a move with Rodriguez four years ago, and yet I love the guy.

Or my favorite world cup heroes Papa Bouba Diop and Ahn Jung-hwan.
