I don't know if it's a good idea to open a thread like this, but I think it may turn out good. I was just thinking if members, who work, may benefit others, students like me, in terms of some tips for career life. Also, if students have certain questions regarding their future.

I'll go first. I wanted to major in Finance, but it requires a high GPA so I gave up:frown: . Consequently, I am forced to major in Economics, as it's my second choice after Finance. Some people told me thats alright it just differs in the college studies, but you'll end up working like the ones who majored in Finance. So, guys what do you think does it really differ in the professional career if I was majoring in Economics or Finance?

I was in the same position as you. The score to study law/commerce was too high so i settled for an Arts degree so I could then transfer into law at a later time (we have a confusing system in Australia).
Law is a good one if you want to pursue a career in finance/tax/maybe economics, it won't tie you down to the one possibility. My dad only had a Law degree and he's worked at the highest level in finance and tax law. The same with lots of people I've met who are partners in firms working in finance, tax or research and development only have straight law degrees under their belts.

It really depends on what you like and how you see yourself in the future.

Majoring in Economics is good if you have in mind running a business in the future for example. If you have "investment" on your mind for the future then it's more healthy to pick the Economics major.

Majoring Finance IMO, fits more those who are planning on becoming Managers and not investing for the future but more looking to improve their their positions/chairs in Companies or Factories.

Anyway, it's not a big difference between the two. And it really depends on what a person likes and what he can handle.
