Well, if in the year we bought Buffon had the talented Szczęsny waiting to take over, would you have passed up on a once-in-a-generation kind of player simply because you already had a talented keeper waiting to take over?
Donna could be the next world #1 for over 2 decades and Szczęsny is a very good keeper but there is a difference there.

btw it's almost time to have a look at our squad and see how many italians do we have left. buffon will retire at the end of the season, so it's chiellini, ds, barza, and stu. (marchisio, rugani and pinsoglio qualify as homegrown players for serie a. also, dybala might be considered as an association grown player, i'm not sure about him.) we should have at least 4 non-homegrown italians in the squad or we'll lose an other place of the potential 25.
We would be even more stupid if we do not analyse the kid in question a little longer and deeper, before we splash the cash on him and cross our fingers in hope that he`ll become someone even close to our current number 1. Not trying to deny the obvious, the kid has talent, lots of potential, he can well be Gigi`s heir, hell, he can even emulate him and make a career with more titles, wins, records, win a golden ball, CL, be european and world champion, etc etc.
What is also undeniable, is that the kid is a moron. A tall and dumb teen, who doesnt really seem to know what he wants, he`s easy to manipulate and too scared to face the consequences of his actions, what he (and his agent) did in the summer was disgusting, cheep and disrespectful to so many people and an institution that AC Milan is. He managed to become from a fan favourite, one of the few bright lights in current Milan and all the other things that he was back then to what he is now - hated from his own fans, insulted by them, they throw money at him, raise banners at him, insult his brother, telling him to gtfo of the club... I mean, you have to be a moron and an idiot to accomplish that. And I, for one, dont like idiots and IF it was up to me to decide (of course its not), I would probably decide against him being the chosen one for a starting GK. My Juve has moral and ethic codes and values that should be respected and people that dont do that (see that other moron dalves for example) or have a record of doing it in the past and have a high risk of doing it again (like the kid in question) have no place in my club.
In short, he good, but I dont want him, he`s Milan`s problem, let them deal with it...

He is literally a kid with the weight of he clubs shoulders on him. He has been tasked as the next generation to carry the torch of a failing club trying to be great again. Add to the pressure he was under to renew, and as you already said...when was the last time you saw any big club in Europe have a fan base so mentally unhinged to actually throw fake money at a player? He commited to the club but news reports coming out to sow distrust have succeeded when all he wants to do is play and be left alone.
Even Dybala is cracking a bit under pressure but that doesn’t mean anything they are still young. Donna is literally a teenager with a ballsy agent. If he has a fault, it’s probably having Raiola.

The last thing we should do is spend huge money on a GK.Whether it's 50m or 75m or 100m, Donnarumma is not worth it to us whatsoever. Szczęsny is just 27yo, the guy has at leas 5 years of proper career ahead of him, if not more.
Sure Donnarumma is very promising but also very troublesome. He's 18 and earns 6m already and still there are problems with him even though he renewed like six months ago.
Szczęsny is more experienced and consistent and what I really like about him is his passing with his feet - Donnarumma is very bad at this IMO. Let's save up those money and reinvest in the midfield which screams mediocrity and the defense which is getting old very quickly. Let Donnarumma be someone else's problem while we'll stick to currently better keeper on lower wages actually.
