Wonder what Dybala's goal/min ratio is as #9 :snoop:
Probably not that great if you believe he played as a 9 at Palermo and hasn’t here. He scored 13 goals in 2964 minutes in his only Serie A season at Palermo.

Who should we be looking at to put on the opposite wing from Chiesa? Know of any promising young wingers?

I still find myself fapping to Zaniolo from time to time.

If you take out penalties, then Kean scores the most per minute (Serie A and Coppa). Then Scamacca. Then Vlahovic. :snoop:
Wow that’s surprising… I do think Kean gets a tough deal here at times, he’s a fairly decent instinctive finisher and he gets himself in good positions. His hold up play and control need to improve along with his decision making but I really think if we stick with him and give him the opportunity to shine he’ll turn into an excellent player

It's very hard to evaluate strikers. They are dependent on a lot of variables. For sure, Kean is the weakest of the three with his ball control and general play. But the ball finds him somehow. We are sure of that so far as a Juventus player. It finds him. Is that luck or is it because he runs more? Runs faster? More instincts? Who knows.

If it takes 3 chances for him to score and it takes Scamacca only 2 chances, but Kean runs himself into more chances in total, is he better or worse? I don't know! :howler:

We need more data.

If you expand the data to include Kean at PSG and also Everton (league and cup). This also includes Scamacca in Serie B, where he scored less frequently than Serie A :howler:

The moral of the story is spend money on CMs so you always have the ball and you always put it in the opponent's box. Is it any surprise that we declined as soon as we lost our good CMs?

Couldn’t agree more, very difficult to compare strikers and those stats are really interesting. Strikers for me is always about gut feel, my favourite strikers are the ones that possess an ‘instinct’ and can just score goals without thinking about it - Kean seems able to do this but he struggles when he has time to think (this should be able to be coached out of him).

Your spot on in terms of CM though. Put Rabiot and Bentancur behind Haaland and Lewandowski and they will struggle to produce top class numbers

That's what a loser would say. Give me the vastly inferior player because he will stay loyal. In the meantime, the other player wins all the trophies and enjoys greater success.
I really think we need to think about other positions for once. Imagine not spending crazy amounts on Higuain, signing a much cheaper and inferior option in Dzeko (at the time) and bringing in a quality mid. Or imagine not spending crazy amounts on CR, leaving the frontline as it was (surely inferior to CR) and using the funds to bring in Pogba and Kante or similar quality mids. Sure, Vlahovic looks great, but the investment required to bring him in would greatly limit us in other areas.

Don't disagree, midfielders and a left back are clearly needed. But morata won't be purchased so we will need a striker as well.

Of course if we offload kulu and MDL we'd need to replace them as well.

I think the midfield needs to be priority though. We'd look so much better across the field if we had a midfield with more than just locatelli playing.

Thank fuck for AFCON.

Our management really must be some lazy fuckers who love overpaid underperforming stale shit.

In the meantime, Roma are really interested in Kamara, a solid young midfielder with an expiring contract who is performing well for Marseille.

Man City rarely uses a striker but they're scoring tons of goals so the question is how are we going to utilise Vlahovic if we can't even utilise Kean and Morata who are both decent. Our weakness is still creativity above anything else, 40M would get you a very good attacking midfielder.
