My four faves for the title are France, Italy, Holland and the Czech Rep. England, Spain and Portugal will be there or there about but I can't see them getting any further than the quarters.

People, you need a team to win a major tournament. Holland doesn't even come close!
Good afternoon Mr. Positive. :D

Holland made the semis of EURO 2000, team or no team. They can go far with that talent. It's just that they can also go crashing out if they don't click, but that can happen to anyone. Look at France in the last World Cup.

Which is why I still haven't gone to the bookmakers ... they're just too unpredictible imo.

We'll see I guess.

BTW - Russia? What the hell happened to the Irish side that eliminated us?!

With no Roy Keane, no Niall Quinn and no Steve Staunton or Jason McAteer, and on a high after a decent WC performance, we slumped to an abysmal away defeat against Russia, and then a disasterous home defeat to Switzerland.

McCarthy was fired, Harte was dropped, and Brian Kerr's had to pick up the pieces. After a good run of wins against the Albanians and Georgians, a poor home draw against the Russians, and a woeful away defeat against the Swiss saw us finish out of the running.

The bad start, particularly the loss to the Swiss in Lansdown Road, cost us. If we'd settled for a draw with the Swiss there, instaed of looking for the winner (ultimately conceeding the loser) that would have saved McCarthy's job, we would have gone into the Swiss away game last weekend on top of the group. Instead, we needed a win, and just lost it.

:( Oh well, there's a bunch of youngsters on the verge of breaking through, so I guess we should just look to Germany 2006.

Shhh! Ian might read this :p
I can't be there to correct people all the time, but he's been putting up some impressive performances with Fulham this season, along with the rest of the squad.

Pff! Pure fluke. Coleman's not a magician - he's a 32-year-old manager with no experience. Sooner or later, Fulham's form will take a nose dive. The team's just too full of underperformers and average players.

I'm thinking more of Leicster. Taylor led them to the top of the Premiership in their first twelve or so games of the season. The following season, they were religated, having collapsed after their good run.

I think its going to be an Italy England final. And England will score first.
But it'll end 2-1 to Italy within 90 minutes.
:)
phh England wont stand a chance against the likes of France,Germany and the hosts portugal.

I wouldn't say that they don't stand a chance, but I'd be surprised if they got past all of them.

I'm really hoping for a good tournament. WC2002 sucked like a new Simpsons episode.
