I just recently bought the new Icky Thump album and noticed that they have put a lock on it that prevents one from ripping it on to their computer. The first thing I do once I purchase a CD is put it onto my hard-drive so I can listen to it whenever I'm on my laptop. I purchased this CD for $14.99 CAD with my hard-earned dollars working in a factory for the summer making fucking transformers.
My CD player in my room doesn't work anymore and I haven't replaced it because I usually listen to the music on my laptop like I previously said. So now, in order to listen to this album, I must purchase a new CD player with my hard-earned cash. Why should I own a CD that owns me?
So tomorrow, I will record it track by track through Audacity using a preamp, a y-cable, a portable CD player, and a mixer so I can put in stereo, and I will convert it to MP3 files in order to listen to this on my computer. Sounds like a lot of work? Yeah, but when I finally join a torrent service for the first time, and God I swear it's the first time because I've always supported the music industry, I will create a torrent of it for other people to steal. By that time, I'll feel like it's all worth it.
I'm tired of supporting these bastards, I'm turning to the Darkside on this one, which is funny because there's a supplier on TorrentSpy.com by that same name.
