Since we're full of DM's and I want Giovinco to play in a more natural role I would use the 4-2-3-1.

Put Amauri in front that can go anywhere on the pitch and let him get those chances from Gio, Diego?, DP or Camo while Momo and Marchisio/Zanetti take care of defending. Put some solid fullbacks and I won't complain. We'd still need that and a good young CB no matter what tactic we use.

I wholeheartedly agree with Mark's suggestion. The 4-2-3-1 facilitates Giovinco and another attacking midfielder. It seems like the only logical solution along with Mark's other suggestions about the additions of quality fullbacks and a centre-back.

Camo and Giovinco got brainwashed with the 4-4-2 so while being forced to track back during certain situations in the game they could go cover the wings with no problem while the 3rd advanced mid stays next or behind Amauri.

    4-3-1-2

    with

    camo - sissoko - marchisio
    --------giovinco

giovinco drifting on the left side as needed, solves many of the lack of options problems that the current flat 4-4-2 has

I like that formation too Bes but I put in my mind from what the board's been saying about Neddy's replacement that a player like Diego or Silva would join us so in your formation Giovinco would lose that spot. I would like both of them to play together.

but then you have to get rid of one of camo, marchisio or go all out with the 3-2-1 and drop del piero

edit: i see that you went for the last option, funny how now i am defending del piero's right to start every game :D

There's a lot of blending in these formations. He doesn't stick up beside Amauri or Trezeguet technically, but he doesn't cut back like the players on the wing do.
So, what you're saying is like saying our current formation is 4-4-1-1? Fair enough.

you gotta do what you gotta do.

    Momo-Marchisio
    Camo-Diego-Giovinco
    Amauri

and like I said earlier, DP super sub and starter against specific teams.
