I don’t buy that veganism not being healthy is something to criticize it over. What about drinkers, smokers, people who gorge on trans fats and sugar, etc? Being a vegan is the least harmful of all those activities but I don’t see people talking shit on them.

Shit, I’d say driving is definitely more dangerous than veganism. And we all do it.

And I also think living naturally is something we as a human society got rid of a long time ago.

So what if it's a first world phenomenon? People live first world lives and as X said, want to find meaning in their lives. They want to reduce their impact on the Earth and care about all life. Maybe it's a bit hippy or whatever, but it's not a bad thing. It's nothing like religion imo, it's just a lifestyle choice.

I mean, why would you scorn someone for deciding they don't want to eat meat and such? (If they're not on a high horse about it)

And it's supposedly healthy with supplements. So.... why not?
Kim Kardashian and her ilk are not like religion they are still disgusting to some

It isn’t about scorning anyone. It is about the stupidity cutting out what you basically need, only to buy supplements to make up for it. Why? Because it makes you feel better?

And food isn’t healthy or unhealthy. It’s all about quantity.
But shouldn't we be scornful of behavior we perceive as stupid?

- - - Updated - - -

What is ridiculous about it? Do you also think that moving from animal testing to in vitro studies is ridiculous as well? Its basically the same thing
Yeah if you can't see the ridiculousness in that then we are too far apart. As for the false equivalence example, nigga please.

You haven't differentiated between different motives behind veganism, say if somebody does it because he considers a vegan diet healthy then X is right and it's absurd. But if somebody ideologically doesn't want to eat animal products and compensates with supplements then he achieved his goal while avoiding malnutrition

Go a layer deeper though, why doesn't he want to consume animal products? That too is absurd when you figure animal welfare is at the expense of the person, since you are going against your nature.

Because we have gotten to the point where nature doesn’t control our decisions and way of life. Taking medicine and wearing vision correcting lenses is against our nature as well but we do it anyways.

Sharks and Lions other predators of that nature kill just enough for them to eat for the day, the rest of the herd or school of sea fish live on. Us humans kill and consume more than we need to and it's Evil glutinous and greed. Hell im guilty of it I went to the Cheesecake Factory last night got some 4 appetizers a New York Steak, and two desserts..I ate my ass off and got two pineapple mojitoz my wife likes em so I tried one too. Pretty good I must say
Wrong. Orcas kill for fun all the time. So do chimps. And dolphins too.

Domesticated cats kill billions of small animals and birds every year too. Most of them probably aren't hungry

Valid point, think about it, they're self aware mammals too...:shifty:

But wouldn't know if it's for fun, it could be their hunting game evolving.

Wait minus the chimps I've seen some crazy stuff about certain tribes of gorillas in the Congo killing specific members of another gorilla clan, so it gets pretty dynamic. It's getting off the subject though from eat meat or not to eat meat.

Lol what? You start with in vitro, then when it looks like it could work you test on animals.

Even if he is, which I doubt, that has nothing to do with humans needing meat in their diet.

Agreed, was just trying to add context to it.

Do you think all animals are created equal when it comes to them being food? Like would you eat an elephant or look down upon someone who does?

I thought you're a lawyer not a toxicologist, no? Multiple hazards can now be evaluated using in vitro tests and estimation and the industry itself is aspiring to drop as many animal tests as possible because it's both expensive and many dont like it

The comparison was that Gordo thought going out of your way and eating supplements not to kill animals is ridiculous, I just wanted to know if chemical industry efforts to reduce animal testing seems ridiculous to him as well. It's probably safer to carry on with rats and rabbits

The way you framed your argument made it sound as if you were talking about animal testing when developing pharmaceutical drugs. In which case they definitely do in vitro testing first. In fact, my girlfriend does both in vitro and animal testing for one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

And fwiw I do want my drugs tested on animals first.

Holy shit. It turns out I even need to money to invest myself so I could publish a book :sleepy: and not just that, but when I sell one, they take 50% of the profit. Ffs, that instantly means I'm at a loss, wtf...
