But just look at the huge variation here in price indexes for the average home from city to city:

Look at the single-family 2nd Quarter 2011 pdf (the top link). The average housing price in the San Francisco metro area was at $515k. By comparison, the Houston, Texas metro area was averaging at $156.5k. That's over a 3x difference just in the average price of a home between the metro areas of two major cities.
That is re-donk. I suppose seeing as states are essentially little countries it makes a bit of sense but wow. At least petrol isn't $9 a gallon...
