Yes, I am a Chicago boy, so I have my biases. But FACS is one of those bands that keeps creeping up on me, burrowing deep holes in my brain.
They're different from most of what I listen to: a bit darkwave and quite art rock for my usual tastes. That's also true of their previous incarnation as the Disappears, which was also a great band.
Their new album from a couple months ago may clock in at only 31 minutes, but it might be my favorite of theirs yet ... at least in terms of consistent intrigue. It was also the last album Steve Albini engineered before he died last year, with Electrical Audio staff finishing the last bits of the job.
The album explores a lot of identity issues, as in this title song. If the TV show Severance was legit cool, they'd be in the soundtrack.
