Juventus have officially signed former Chelsea star Adrian Mutu, though he won’t be available until his drugs ban expires in May.

Reports in his native Romania over the last few days had hinted at a pre-contract agreement penned with the Bianconeri, but late this evening the five-year deal was confirmed by the Juventus website.

Mutu had been linked to Juve even before he tested positive for cocaine and was handed a seven-month suspension.

Chelsea fired the player, so he is free to sign for any club he wants, even if the Stamford Bridge side has hinted it wants compensation from his future employers.

As the ban expires on May 18, the Romanian will be able to play the final two games of the Serie A season.

Mutu turned 26 years of age on Saturday and the interest of other sides, including Fiorentina, has evidently pushed Juventus to stake their claim early.

He therefore returns to Serie A, where he had successful spells at Inter, Hellas Verona and Parma before joining Chelsea in a £15.8m move.

We got Mutu for Free!

I think we signed him now because Moggi is thinking of having some reinforcements if we reach the champions league finals. He'll be available in may so we signed him now so we can register him as an additional player in the champions league which was freed up by Iuliano when he signed for Mallorca.

That's F**king GREAT!!!
