He’s unpolished, makes a tonne of mistakes and isn’t the most fancy player…but damn can he be an effective and clinical player for us. He’s improved so much over the past few months and he has definitely earned his starting position on merit. Easily one of the more likeable players in the team - much rather him than the likes of Rabiot and Ramsey that he who shall not be named saddled us with during his reign of terror.
He's very likeable. Him on the Amazon documentary was fun.

He most of the time played higher up the pitch than dybala. It's good that our mids are pushing forward more, but his defensive contribution felt a bit lackluster today.
Last game with Loca and Arthur it felt way better.

With Chiesa injured and our strikers being as they are, Allegri has no choice but to play McKennie in a more offensive position and to play him all the time. His contribution outside the opponent's box is almost zero, but take McKennie off and we're losing even that chance or two to score from an occasional cross into the box.
And I don't think we're missing the defensive contribution from him. It's not like we ever had it. The other midfielders are doing a solid job there in defense. What we're missing from McKennie is an offensive contribution outside of headers in the box.
