Good luck to him. Never understood why so many hated on him. While not world class he nevertheless scored and assisted here and there despite our overall play being utter shit and so often being played in strange positions. Useful squad player.

Having said that, if we have to sell to balance books better him getting sold than Chiesa or Vlahovic.

How could we not sell this guy outright? So much to fix on field, but can't help but think the first priority for this club should be to bring in someone who can make favourable transfer deals for us.

All the best to mckennie, hope he does well at Leeds...for his sake, but moreso for our sake.

I think the only reason they settled for option to buy is because it's an easy to achieve option. Otherwise it would not be worth the risk for a few extra mills.

Although I tend to overrate our board, we'll see what these new accounting gurus are up to.

I think the hate mostly stems from the fact that he's American, honestly.

Weston McKennie, in England today together with his agents in order to sign the contract as new Leeds Utd player after medical tests ⚪️✈️ #LUFC

Leeds pay €1.2m loan fee, €33m plus add-ons is the buy option clause - so it's up to potential €40m total package.

Someone tell me, since it's loan+ will he get new contract/salary or stays the same through 2025? And if it is say increase in salary/new contract, what (let's hope not) Leeds sends him back to us? How's it all work out?

He was quite useful and likeable rotation player up to a year ago. Was scoring useful goals and being energetic, and mainly being backup or rotation.

Then he got an injury, came back couple months later, and the offensive box to box impact that hid his extremely limited game was no more.

Plus Allegri making him a nonstop starter despite awful performances, just recipe for disaster. His limitation technically and passing became extremely glaring the more he played past year, as was the fact he is not a ball winner at all.

Prior to that was easy to like him or think he is a useful depth player.

Him being an American had no factor in being disliked (except for likes of alen). If anything made him more interesting, different kind of charming child like personality to the mix. Meme worthy ones as we saw in the documentary lol

But at end of day you get judged on your football ability, and his was quite frankly limited to terrible degree. Unless he was playing as an emergency AM just making off the ball runs into the box, he had no tangible use on the pitch.
