Cool interview with Wes on the CWC website front page

Some parts:

(On his versatility)
“As long as I’m playing, I’m happy,” he told FIFA in an exclusive interview prior to the tournament. “If you put me as goalkeeper and you tell me I’m starting now, I’ll play it. At least I’m on the field and I just want to do the best that I can to help the team and to win games.

“If you tell me that I score two goals but we lose or I score zero and we win, I’m the type of guy that takes the score zero and we win. So (it’s) definitely not that hard for me to do.”

“I think I just understand all the positions in that way by playing them or I don’t feel like it’s very difficult to understand how you need to play a certain position – if you’re playing left-back and if you’re playing right-back or if you’re playing striker, what you need to do in those,” he said.

“It’s something that I’ve always been good at mentally to be able to do. I think playing many different sports as a young kid, adapting so often and always having to adapt to many things in my life, I think helps me with that.

“I’m not the egoist or anything. I’m not someone that's like, ‘Oh, if I’m not playing this position, I don’t want to play.’ I’m someone like, ‘I’ll play any position you want me to play'."
If you could play alongside a Juventus legend, who would you choose for one game?
Probably Davids, Edgar Davids. Yeah, I’d choose him. I don’t know why – whenever I first came, people were saying, ‘Oh, you’re like Edgar Davids’ and I’m like, ‘I don’t see it at all,’ but I definitely would want to play with him for sure. That would be pretty cool. I think he was a type of player that was just always (a) 100% mentality-type guy and I feel like I relate to that a lot. So (I’d) definitely choose him.
Kenan Yildiz has enjoyed a good season for Juve. What kind of player is he, and how far can he go with his qualities?
I’ve known Kenan since he’s been training with us at a younger age. He’s a big talent. I think you just have to let him grow in his own way. The problem nowadays with younger players coming through is social media. Back then we didn’t have social media. Players grew how they grew. Nowadays, there’s all types of different pressures that come from everywhere. If you want to be a top-level player, you take on the pressure, but a lot of it’s unnecessary pressure that’s put onto a person. But he’s been doing well with it. And carrying the weight of wearing the No10 jersey at Juventus, it’s not a light thing at a young age, and it means a lot, so you have pressure, and either you deal with it and you thrive or you don’t deal with it and you don’t thrive. It’s one or the other. But I think he has the abilities to thrive with it.
What makes Juventus special that American fans should support you?
I’d say: easy answer – you have two Americans on the team (McKennie and Timothy Weah). That’s my answer. Simple. I’m hoping that it’s going to be a good atmosphere. I hope fans come out and support. A lot of the Americans want to see the club teams that are going to be participating in the tournament, so I think we’ll have a good turnout.
