Diego eyed in Italy

Brazilian Diego is being eyed by several Serie A clubs, at least according to his agent Fernando Benedine.

The Atletico MG goalkeeper has impressed this season in his homeland, with a series of assured displays, which are believed to have attracted attention from across Europe.

Benedine claims Juventus are currently leading the race to land his client's signature, with discussions having gone well with the Turin giants.

"I have received several enquiries from Italian teams, especially from Juventus, who would loan Diego to Treviso," he said.

"A month ago a scout from Juventus came to Brazil to watch Diego in action and he was impressed with his performance.

"Their idea would be to loan him to another team so he can get European experience.

"At the moment they have one of the best keepers in the world, but they want to go on planning to have a substitute in case he leaves.

"Diego holds an EU passport so that would make the negotiations easier."

....Hold on. Why would we need a goalkeeper when a) Buffon is there b) Mirante who is very good backup is there and c) Belardi surely must be good enough to be third goalkeper???

assume that Diego is better than Mirante /Belardi
if Buffon leaves, then he will be our GK

if Buffon stays, he will be loan out to gain more experience
and if again, if he impresses a lot, he can be used to exchange players

Looks like a good prospect. To reject him on the basis that he is Brasilian is foolish. At least watch him play st b4 u write him off.

Still, Mirante looks like a good prospect also, and Id much rather give him a starting spot than gamble on another goalie.

If Gigi leaves we must go for strong GK like Amelia or Frey.
But if he stays, buying a GK is totaly unnecesary!
Even if we can get him for free, why we should spend our wage bugget! We are not humanitary organisation...
