Viola confirm Frey arrival
Friday 24 June, 2005
Fiorentina have announced the signing of Parma ‘keeper Sebastien Frey on a season-long loan.

The Viola have been linked with a move for the Frenchman for quite some time after Frey announced that he would leaving Parma at the end of last season.

Despite the initial deal only being a loan move, Fiorentina have agreed terms with the Gialloblu to make the switch permanent next summer. The deal will also see Viola ‘keeper Cristiano Lupatelli move to the Stadio Tardini for next season.

Frey, who was brought to Italy in 1998 by Inter, will reportedly take a pay-cut to move to Tuscany. He also had a spell at Verona and made 132 appearances in his four seasons at Parma.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina also confirmed the arrival of Manuel Pasqual from Serie B side Arezzo. Midfielder Luigi Piangerelli will move in the other direction as part of the deal.

Everybody wants to head to Fiorentina these days, and with Prandelli as their coach, I'm sure he can lead Viola up to the UEFA qualifications

I think Fiorentina are a great club and will definitely return to be the among the top teams in Italy again....last season was just a one off thing...with their squad, they should be playing for the uefa cup spots...
