The Final of the Viareggio youth tournament will be decided by a replay on Wednesday after Inter and Empoli drew 1-1.
Alberto Gerbo put Inter ahead at the Stadio dei Pini just before half-time when he pounced on a rebound from a Mario Balotelli strike.
However, Empoli levelled 16 minutes after the restart thanks to a Luca Hemmy first-time effort from a free-kick.
An entertaining game was played at a frenetic pace and saw chance at both ends throughout,
Empoli came closer to clinching the silverware and the Nerazzurri had goalkeeper Vid Belec to thank for saves from Hemmy and Salvatore Caturano.
In extra-time, Ivan Fatic and Balotelli went close for Inter but the Beneamata were forced to cling on after Daniele Federici was sent off with 10 minutes remaining for a second bookable offence.
Meanwhile, Atalanta won the third-place play-off against Vicenza 1-0.
