Francesco Totti risks a heavy ban if video evidence is used to punish his petulant kick out at Pavel Nedved during Juve’s victory over Roma.

The Giallorossi captain was caught on camera kicking Nedved in the back of the head as the two lay on the ground following a challenge from the Czech international.

If the Disciplinary Commission views the video evidence and considers it worthy of punishment, then Totti risks a ban of between two and four games.

It is hardly the first time that the Roma man has been involved in this type of incident, as he received a three-match ban during Euro 2004 when he was spotted in footage spitting at Denmark’s Christian Poulsen.

Totti is the most red-carded player in Roma’s Serie A history, having been dismissed eight times in his career.

i love nedved, and i hate totti, but i dont really see how that "slight tap on the head" requires a ban

It was a sign of disrespect, so I think a banning could be justified. However, if it wasn't Totti we were talking about I wouldn't even consider a ban. It's just that he never learns. It's in everyone's best interest if he does get banned for this to be fair. I'm not sure what to think about what Nedved did on beforehand though.

When you look at the video closely, you could see that the gesture was intentional. Although it didn't make much of an impact at the back of Nedved's head, the extension of the leg of Totti when he was already in a static position, therefore justifying that he did not extend that leg out of momentum or attempt to balance, was an unprofessional behaviour. The fact that it was caught so clearly on video puts him in deeper trouble though because any sports fan would say that it was not nice to see.

Just to establish good values in sports, I think the issue needs to be raised. It doesn't matter if Totti gets a ban or not. What matters is that authorities bring up that matter and state that anything like that happening again would sanction a suspension for unprofessional behaviour.

The fact that Totti, known for his disciplinary issues, was the one caught doing it just makes the issue more debatable because he's been through a lot of occassions like this, and reprimanding him would appear like we're treating him unfairly.

If you see Zidane, or Ronaldinho stomping a player like that at the back of the head, it would have immediately been agreed by everyone that it requires a ban. It doesnt happen to them that often so the issue does not become sensitive.

Well at least, that's what I think.

I think that gesture from Totti was uncalled for .. There was no need to extend his leg and tap Nedved on the head .. Nedved is ok for sure .. but i think Totti should get a 2 match ban
